When Hawthorne Cat came to us, they knew they wanted a way to speak to their community in San Diego, but they didn’t know how. They had a long, rich history in the area — after their founding in the 1950s, they steadily became one of the premier machine providers in all of Southern California. So what was the problem then? No one knew about it.

That’s where we came in.

It turns out the solution was in their backyard the entire time. Rather than having San Diego be a backdrop to their brand, we decided to have their brand hero San Diego.

What We Did

Through our heavy equipment marketing, we designed concepts, multiple campaigns, a brand strategy and organic social media tactics paying tribute to San Diego’s role in Hawthorne’s longstanding success. By putting the community and their work ethic at the forefront, we showed that it’s not about what you achieve, but the people that you achieve it with.

While each campaign was a little different, two messages were at the center of each:

  1. Hawthorne is the dependable partner everyone needs.
  2. Hawthorne is what it is because of San Diego.

Hawthorne knew the story of how their community helped them find success. With us, they could finally tell it.

Hawthorne produced our concepts and successfully rolled them out across the market. It continues to connect with the community of San Diego and its people today.

 

 

By bridging the gap between a business and where it resides, we showed that the relationship between the two can be powerful. Without one another lifting each other up, nothing else would work. We’re thrilled we got to be a part of it.
